Makalu is the fifth highest mountain in the world at 8,481 metres and is located 19 km south east of Mount Everest, between Nepal and China .Makalu is an isolated peak whose shape is a four-sided pyramid. There are various other mountains Mt.Chamlang (7319 m ),Mt. Baruntse (7129 m) toi name a few stretched over 40 km along with Mt. Makalu, which lies at the eastern part of the country and Makalu area is protected by the Makalu Barun National park and Conservation Project .
