Langtang Valley Trekking is one of the lesser spoiled national parks of Nepal. Situated North of Kathmandu valley near the Tibetan border, it is the most easily accessible highland sanctuary from the capital. Langtang Valley Trekking covers 1,710 sq. km. forming the upper catchments area of two of Nepal’s largest river systems – the Trishuli and Koshi. There is great latitudinal variation, starting at 1,500 m on Langtang valley trekking. and ascending to the top of Mt. Langtang Lirung at 7,234 m. As a result, the park has immense ecological diversity. Some of the most attractive areas of the park include the Langtang Valley, the holy lakes at Gosainkund, and the forested hillsides above the village of Helambu.
When you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be collected from the airport and transported to your hotel. If you arrive early in the day, you can explore the city or rest in your hotel.
From Kathmandu, we drive 7 to 8 hours to Syabru Besi and stay overnight in a teahouse.
The Langtang treks starts in Syabru.The trek passes through terraced fields,forests of oak, maple and finally bamboo.The forest is alive with wildlife, mainly birds and small animals. If you are lucky,you may see the occasional group of monkeys.After crossing the Langtang Khola,we start our ascent out of the Langtang Valley and soon reach the Lama Hotel.
After a little trekking, you will have a spectacular view of the Langtang Lirung(7246m). Then after a steep climb through the Langtang Gorge,the ascent eases,leading you towards the valley which widens out into an area of yak meadows and rhododendrons. We continue trekking and reach the Langtang valley trekking area, an area populated by descendants of Tibet.
To get to Kyangin Gompa,we have an easy walk through yak meadows.The village is spectacularly situated in a glacial amphitheater dominated by high peaks. From here, we will ascend up Kyanjin Gompa to 3850 meters and have a wonderful view of Langtang Lirung and the foot of one its major glaciers.At the cheese factory in Kyanjin Gompa, we will have an opportunity to sample the tasty local yak cheese.
We will retrace our steps to Ghoda Tabela.
