Detail

In the Hindu Kush Himalaya region, there are many famous mountains. Among them, Mt. Everest has captured the interest of many being the tallest mountain in the world (8,848m/29,029ft). Throughout years, the Everest Khumbu region has been the favorite and most sought out trekking destination for trekkers across the globe. It is located on the northeast side of Nepal, bordering Tibet in the north. The Everest Khumbu region lies in the Sagarmatha National Park in Solukhumbu district. The national park was established in 1976 to protect the pristine condition of biodiversity in the Everest Khumbu region. Along with Mt Everest, the national park is home to many other notable mountains like Lhotse, Nuptse, and Island Peak. The Everest Khumbu region also hosts a wide range of outstanding flora and fauna, including snow leopard and Himalayan black bear. The local people dominating the Everest Khumbu region are Sherpas. They are well-known for their distinct culture and lifestyle. Also known as ultra-human beings, they are hard-working and very friendly. Namche Bazaar, the gateway to Everest, is the hotspot for tourists who want to explore the unique Sherpa culture and traditions. The most alluring treks in the Everest Khumbu region include Everest Base Camp Trek, Gokyo Valley Trek, 3 Passes Trek, and Everest Panorama Trek. Among them, the Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most sought out trekking destinations in Nepal. There are many monasteries en route the base camp. Among them, the Tyangboche monastery is most famous and considered sacred by the local people.

The routes for the treks in the Everest Khumbu region are well made, but as altitude increases and oxygen levels decrease, it gets strenuous. The trails pass through sub-alpine zones, and you will see thick forests of pine and fir. The weather is generally cold all year round, but the monsoon and winter seasons prove to be more difficult due to rain and snowfall.
The Everest Khumbu region is a perfect trekking destination for those who seek adventure and want to explore the beauty of the Himalayas. The best time to visit the Everest Khumbu region is March-May and September-November, as the weather is stable and pleasant during these months.
