One of the beautiful gems in the Langtang region, the Helambu Trek, is an adventure that explores the culturally rich Sherpa settlements. The trek explores the Helambu trekking, which is situated to the south of the Langtang ranges. Similarly, the trek also crosses paths with the serene trails in the Shivapuri National Park. While the cultural aspect of the valley is the highlight of the trek, the Himalayan ecstasy is even more magical.
The short 9-day trek begins with your arrival in the valley as you explore around and prepare for the trek. A short drive from the northern part of Kathmandu takes you to Sundarijal. From here, the trek officially begins as you begin the walk through the Shivapuri National Park. The biodiversity and charming trails of the national park offer excellent trekking experience to the trekkers. Heading north along the trails, you will reach Chisapani, which is a Sherpa village. The village also offers a beautiful panorama of the Langtang, Jugal, and Dorje Lakpa ranges.
Next, you enter the Helambu valley and trek to Kutumsang. The trek passes through numerous ethnic Sherpa villages with a unique culture and lifestyle. Trekking across forested trails, you head to Tarkeghyang, which is another Sherpa village in the Helambu valley. You can relish the lifestyle of the locals and also visit some of the revered cultural heritage in Tarkeghyang. As the trek nears its end, you trek south and head to Sermathang.
You will continue the trek to Melamchi Pul Bazaar from where you board a vehicle to Kathmandu. It is one of the easier treks in Nepal and does not require the trekkers to have an excellent physical condition. Also, the spring and autumn seasons are the best time for the Helambu Trek. Welcome to Nepal! One of the company representatives will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport. He/she will drive you across the capital and take you to your hotel. You can also prepare for the trek as you explore the valley for the rest of the day.
Leaving Kathmandu, you will drive to Sundarijal as you leave the concrete of the city and head towards the lush nature. You begin the trek from here and walk across the Shivapuri National Park. The national park offers a surreal company with a wide variety of wildlife and biodiversity. Finally, you will reach Chisapani, which is a Sherpa village and rich culture and
lifestyle.
The day begins as you enjoy the ravishing panorama of the Himalayas in the Langtang, Judal, and Dorje Lakpa ranges. After enjoying the view, the tails heads to Kutumsang. The trail passes through forests of rhododendron and pine as you continue en route. Passing a
few Sherpa villages with local customs and traditions, you will reach Kutumsang.
On this day, you will trek to the highest point on this journey. The trail starts from Kutumsang and gently ascends across the forested path. The biodiversity of the forests and cultural interaction with the Hyolmo community will offer exciting trekking experience. You
can also enjoy the views of mountains like Dorje Lakpa (6966m) and Jugal Himal range en
route.
As the trek officially enters Helambu Valley, the cultural riches shine on the treks ahead. The trek to Tarkeghyang also offers plenty of adventurous trails along with the rich heritage of the Sherpa community. You descend on most of the occasions and settle at Tarkeghyang. Here, you can explore the village and enjoy the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the local
Hyolmo community.
The trail on this day heads along a somewhat leveled path as you exit Tarkeghyang. Later, the trek enters the forests of rhododendron and pine to reach Gangyul. After resting for a while, you continue with the views of the faraway Jugal ranges and continue southeast. At the end of the trip, you will reach another Sherpa village in the Helambu Valley at Sermathang.
Leaving the Helambu Valley, the trek entails a quick walk to Melamchi Pul Bazaar. The trail descends for most parts and passes a few Tamang villages to settle at Melamchi. The trek will be a relatively short one, and you can rest at Melamchi for the remainder of the day. You can also choose to explore the local region and enjoy the lifestyle of the locals.
From Melamchi, you get on a vehicle and head back to Kathmandu Valley. On the way, you pass through hillside roads with the company of beautiful landscapes and rushing rivers. As the drive is a short one, you can explore the valley for the rest of the day. Some of the
popular destinations are the UNESCO world heritage sites that offer vibrant cultural display and religious homage.
Today is a free day, and you can either enjoy the riches of the Kathmandu Valley or take a flight to your next destination. Either way, we offer you an excellent company for the tour or drive to the Tribhuvan International Airport.
