Our Narba Treks team will be waiting for you at the airport in Nepal, with a small welcome ceremony to start of your Annapurna Base Camp trek of 14 days. After a short transfer to your booked hotel in Kathmandu, we suggest to familiarize yourself with the charming streets of Thamel. Known as backpackers’ paradise this area has everything you might possible want for trekking. The next day as we prepare your permits required for the Annapurna base Camp trek, you’ll be enjoying a guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu’s most interesting landmarks! Kathmandu’s old Palace or Durbar Square, the Swayambunath Stupa, the Boudhanath Stupa, and the Pashupatinath temple.
In order to reach the starting point of the Annapurna Base Camp trek we’ll have to leave Kathmandu behind and take a drive for about 5 to 6 hours to Pokhara. Resting on the shores of Phewa or Fewa Lake, Pokhara is known as one of the most beautiful cities in Nepal. The iconic fishtail shaped Mt Machhapuchhare ever overlooks the city, and the surrounding hills and Himalayas reflect on the lake’s surface making this a dream destination for many! Lunch we’ll be on the way to Pokhara at one of the highway buffet restaurants serving a wide range of local dishes. Most of the trip to Pokhara takes place along the Trishuli River making it for a scenic drive. It’ll be late afternoon once we arrive at Pokhara. After settling in to the hotel we suggest you to enjoy nthe sights at lakeside and try one of the BBQ restaurants for a good meal, as tomorrow we officially start with the Annapurna Base Camp trek. From Pokhara we have a short drive to Nayapul. Here we hold a final gear check before starting the trek to Annapurna Base Camp. The first part of the trek is rather easy going with some minor ups and downs along the trail. Our destination, the village of Ulleri. To reach here we pass by various terraced rice fields and trek through the village of Tikhedunga. Also a famous overnight destination during the Annapurna Base Camp trek. Ulleri is just below Ghorepani. To reach here we’ll have to climb up more than 3000 stone steps making Ulleri for a better place to overnight than Thikedunga in our opinion. Ghorepani gives us access to the famous viewpoint at Poon Hill. As one of the highlights of the Annapurna Base Camp trek, we’ll be making a sunrise hike up here from Ghorepani to catch a stunning
sunrise view of the Southern Annapurna Himalayas, Mt Dhaulagiri, Mt Hiunchuli and Mt Machhapuchhare! Leaving Ghorepani behind we continue on for two days to reach Chhomrong and the
classical Annapurna Base Camp trail. From here on the trail leads further up through lush jungles and forests passing by Bamboo and ultimately Deurali at 3,230m/10,595ft! It is from here we’ll see a change in the topography and leave the green tree line behind for a more trans-Himalayan landscape of rock and tundra. The Annapurna Base Camp trekking trail now leads up passing the famous Machhapuchhare Base Camp
into the Annapurna Sanctuary and Annapurna Base Camp. Incredible views of Annapurna I, II and III as well as the Gangapurna and Hiunchuli welcome you as you enter Annapurna’s southern base camp. There is also a helipad available here as well as blue roofed guesthouses. Having spent the night we continue the Annapurna Base Camp trek by retracing our steps back down to Bamboo. A bit further down Bamboo near Chhomrong is Jhinu Danda. This place has its own natural hot water springs, and aremade public for weary trekkers to rest and heal up any aches occurred from a long and a successful trek up to Annapurna Base Camp. After a relaxing time and spending the night at Jhinu Danda we make our way back down to Nayapul. It will be the last part of the Annapurna Base Camp trek as we follow the trail leading back to where the trek started. We say goodbye to the Annapurna Himalayas and drive back to Pokhara. Although not included in the itinerary for the Annapurna Base Camp trek, you could spend a few more nights at Pokhara and enjoy activities such as; sightseeing, paragliding, rafting, bungee jumping and many more! Narba Treks is more than happy to accommodate you and extending your holiday in Nepal. Reaching the conclusion of this trek after spending the night in Pokhara, we drive back to Kathmandu. Yes, you can make this Annapurna Base Camp trek itinerary shorter, by skipping Ghorepani, Poon Hill.
