From east to west, Nepal is home to many majestic mountains. Most of these mountains are located in the Himalayan region, far from the capital, Kathmandu. The closest mountainous region from the capital is the Langtang Gosainkunda region, located directly to the north of Kathmandu. There are various ethnic groups of people residing in this region, like Tamangs and Gurungs, who follow Tibetan Buddhism. There are several monasteries and Chortens filled with prayer flags en route the trekking trails.

The Langtang Gosainkunda region presents exciting routes that can be enjoyed with friends. The most popular route of this region includes the Langtang Valley Trek, which emphasizes the pristine beauty and resilient culture of the people. There are also treks like the Gosainkunda Trek, which is considered as a sacred trek by Hindus. Also, another trek, the Tamang Heritage Trek will offer first-hand experience to the unique Tamang culture. The narrow valley of Langtang and glaciers are other highlights of this region.
The Langtang Gosainkunda region is nearest to the capital. Further, it is the best trek for beginners. The trail is not too strenuous and can be done by people who have never trekked before. You can explore the region within a week. So, it is the best choice for trekking in the Himalayas if you don’t want to have a long journey. March-May and September-early December are the best time to visit this region. This is because the weather is pleasant and has fewer irregularities like rainfall compared to other months.
